RDA BSC SMEs is an organization deeply engaged in regional economic development, innovation, and various aspects of community and environmental improvement. Established to support diverse sectors including green infrastructure, energy efficiency, social entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage, RDA BSC SMEs operates across a broad range of thematic areas with a focus on creating integrated and sustainable regional development strategies.
The organization has been instrumental in developing regional policies and strategies, particularly in the areas of tourism, education, and environmental sustainability. As a member of various regional councils and committees, RDA BSC SMEs plays a significant role in shaping regional development through its involvement in planning and coordinating sector-specific strategies.
RDA BSC SMEs has substantial experience in managing transnational and regional projects. Notable projects include the "Integrated Strategy for Slow, Green and Healthy Tourism," which resulted in the creation of a comprehensive tourism strategy for the Plovdiv Region. This strategy is recognized as a pioneering regional plan in Bulgaria. Other relevant projects include the GREENINFRANET, which focused on green infrastructure, and the PRO ENERGY project, aimed at promoting energy efficiency in public buildings across the Balkan Mediterranean area.
In the Mystical Danube Project, RDA BSC SMEs will contribute to the development of a Strategy for the valorisation of natural and intangible cultural heritage in rural and less-visited areas along the Danube River. The organization will be actively involved in mapping and collecting data on natural sites and associated intangible cultural heritage within the project's target areas. This includes engaging local stakeholders through workshops and interviews to gather knowledge and stories connected to these sites.
Additionally, RDA BSC SMEs will contribute to policy recommendations and capacity-building efforts. A significant part of their role includes implementing a pilot action in Bulgaria, which involves designing a cycling route along the Maritsa River to promote slow, green, and healthy tourism. This initiative aims to extend successful strategies from the Plovdiv Region to a broader area, enhancing regional economic development and social inclusion.
