BSC Kranj, a regional development agency with over 20 years of experience and 27 employees, plays a crucial role in aligning local and regional needs with funding opportunities across the 18 municipalities of the Gorenjska region. Their work spans six priority fields: tourism, entrepreneurship, human resource development, environment, spatial planning and infrastructure, rural development, and smart communities. BSC Kranj prepares and implements key measures from the region's development program, formulates strategic documents, and guides strategic political decisions.
Serving as a bridge between municipalities, the economy, public institutions, and the non-governmental sector, BSC Kranj executes projects that align with the vision of the Regional Development Programme: “High quality of life for all generations in a connected, energy-efficient, and clean Alpine region.” The agency's work is founded on principles of responsibility, cooperation, innovation, and sustainability.
With a team of committed and competent employees, BSC Kranj implements projects that strengthen regional competitiveness by connecting local community and company needs with national and European development policies and financial resources. The agency looks forward to forming development partnerships aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all generations and building a stronger, better Gorenjska.
The agency's thematic and territorial competences are highly relevant for the Mystical Danube Project. Gorenjska region's commitment to developing sustainable green tourism, particularly in the underdeveloped mountain range of Karavanke, aligns well with the project’s goals. Karavanke, rich in identity and mystical stories, offers untapped potential for nature-friendly tourism, providing new opportunities for employment, particularly for youth and women. BSC Kranj has already initiated cross-border projects like ALPE ADRIA PARK and RECO, focusing on sustainable tourism and biodiversity in mountain areas. Their experience with projects like THEMATIC and TANGRAM Adrion has further honed their skills in developing tourist attractions in less developed areas through strategic planning and pilot initiatives.
BSC Kranj will test the Green and Mystical Danube Storytelling Route pilot site in the Karavanke mountain range, Slovenia. They will collaborate with REDEA and other PPs on developing an interactive mobile app for tourists, which will be tested and refined.
