Agency for management of protected areas of Podgorica (AUZP) is a public enterprise established by the Capital City Podgorica. As sectorial agency, AUZP is formed with the aim of preserving and efficient management of protected areas in the territory of the Capital City Podgorica. Protected areas are characterized by the richness of biodiversity, endemic plant and animal species and characteristic ecosystems. There are four valuable areas in the territory of the Capital, which are under protection: the Nature Park “Komovi”, the Nature Park “Zeta River Valley”, the Nature Monument ”Cave Magara” and the Nature Monument “Gorica Hill”. AUZP has fruitful cooperation with local, regional, and national public authorities, sectorial agencies, NGOs, education and research institutions, and the general public since establishment.

AUZP has extensive experience in working with local, regional, and national public authorities, NGOs, educational and research institutions. The agency is committed to improving the state of protected areas and raising public awareness about their conservation. This includes collaborating with various stakeholders through Memoranda of Understanding and engaging in activities such as mapping ecological impacts, organizing clean-ups, and promoting environmental education.

In the Mystical Danube Project, AUZP will be actively involved in all project activities, particularly focusing on identifying and selecting pilot sites near Bukumirsko Lake in the Nature Park “Komovi.” The agency will contribute to the development of the project's Strategy for valorising natural and intangible cultural heritage. AUZP will assist in preparing eight Action Plans for pilot sites in Montenegro, which are aimed at developing the Green and Mystical Danube Storytelling Route.
